Hanneke Slager, Partner at Cordemeyer & Slager.

Hanneke Slager has been a partner at Cordemeyer & Slager Advocaten since 1989. Hanneke has extensive experience working in the IT practice and advises and assists her clients in multiple types of national and cross-border IT contracts such as outsourcing, implementation, turnkey, agile and waterfall software development, licensing, hosting, cloud services, managed services, legal support after a cyberattack. She also has extensive experience advising and assisting her clients, in and out of court, in IT disputes, such as about failed IT projects and liability after cyberattacks and software audits.

Hanneke graduated in 1982 at Groningen University in civil law and socio-economic law. After having worked as a corporate lawyer at Hewlett-Packard and Bull, she was sworn in as an attorney-at-law in 1989 and she has been associated with Cordemeyer & Slager / Advocaten as a naming partner since then. She has successfully completed her training as a mediator and she regularly acts as an arbitrator.

Hanneke regularly speaks at seminars and conferences, both in the Netherlands and abroad. She is a lecturer at IIR and a lecturer and examiner at the postgraduate specialization course in information technology computer law at Grotius Academy (CPO Nijmegen). She also teaches in Suriname for Stichting – CDR. .

From 2002 to March 2020, Hanneke was a board member of the Foundation for the Resolution of ICT Disputes (SGOA), the last ten years as chairwoman. She initiated SGOA Switzerland (“ITDR”, www.itdr.ch) in Zurich, was a founding board member until 2021 and still is a member of the advisory board. Since 2012, Hanneke has been a member of the Supervisory Board of NL Net Foundation. From 2005 to 2012, she was a member of the Supervisory Board of SIDN (the Foundation for Internet Domain Registration in the Netherlands, the registry that manages the domain names for the top level domain .nl). From 2019 till 2022 she has been a board member of IGAL, a worldwide association of accountants, tax advisers and lawyers. She is a member of the Association of Informatics Lawyers (VIRA), Itech law (International Technology Law association) and of the Dutch Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR).

Hanneke has published in various magazines and professional journals, mainly in the field of IT law. She is co-author of the series Recht en Praktijk (169) “From dispute to solution”, chapter 4: “Summary arbitral proceedings: store it or polish it” (February 2009). Lead author “Wegwijzer Automatisering en Recht” (1990); Co-author and editor-in-chief of “Working with Source Code Escrow” (1989), and “Doing business in the Netherlands” (2013).

Hanneke Slager has entered the following areas of law in the register of legal areas of the Netherlands Bar Association: civil procedural law (arbitration and litigation) and information technology law (IT law). For this registration, she is obliged to obtain ten training points, each calendar year, for each of the registered legal areas, all of this in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.
